A zoot suit is a another mens clothing style. This became famous popular during the 1930s and 40s. This is the era wherein there are certain alternative groups in the United States, such as Chicanos and African-Americans. It originated from the African American jazz society in Harlem, New York. Later it was finally accepted by another culture in other American cities, particularly Los Angeles. Its term originated from a Mexican-American slang articulation of "suit." There are famous female versions of zoot suit and it’s surprising that they still exist nowadays. You can hardly see them today with knee-length skirts in tramas.
This type of mens clothes has significant relationship in well-accepted with most in youth gangs and jazz music. Nowadays, most people had this notion that think of jazz and swing civilization has something to do with the zoot suit.
This mens clothing is typified by being a very huge suit that features wide-legged pants, an extended jacket with big shoulder pads called as carlango, and collected at the ankles. The zoot suit clearly displays a sense of fashion worthy of display because of the surplus amounts of fabric essential for its designer. This is normally worn official occasion. This is often worn with a long watch string on the pants. You can even create an artistic style by wearing a pointed shoe, and a big felt hat with a feather.
In spite of its popularity, the zoot suit because explicitly bold and was officially banned by the Federal War Production Board in 1942. The organization believes this mens clothing is way too expensive for fabric. After a year, the suit riots ignited in Los Angeles where the style was revived by the Mexican-American youths. Unfortunately, on leave soldiers and sailors started beating up anyone in zoot suit clothes.
